Biographical materials, diary transcript, obituary, and carte-de-visite photographs of William Seamonson, a Sauk County, Wis. native who served with the 49th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. The diary contains short daily entries which note the weather, daily activities, setting up a pontoon bridge, and activities at camp. The collection includes some biographical information about Seamonson taken from pension records and regimental history information compiled by Joan Phelan. Seamonson also served with the 23rd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, and the collection includes five carte-de-visite images that are presumably soldiers in the 23rd Wisconsin.
